Every Day is an Empty Stage
Documentary Feature - 93 Min - 2026
EVERY DAY IS AN EMPTY STAGE follows Russian theater, opera, and film director Kirill Serebrennikov, who has been living in exile and in constant transit since leaving Russia in 2022. As a prominent dissident and multidisciplinary artist, his work explores political despotism, power, and artistic freedom. The film sheds light on his creative processes, personal losses, and the strain brought on by his obsessive creative work, as he uses the international stage to draw attention to the oppression of the Russian cultural scene. At the same time, it paints a compelling portrait of an obsessive artist whose work demonstrates the power of art as a unifying force in uncertain times.
With Kirill Serebrennikov, August Diehl, Yang Ge, Varvara Shmykova, Bertrand de Roffignac, Konstantin Koval and many more
