Driving Europe

Documentary Feature - 86 Min - 2025

In August 2023, more than 80 truck drivers from non-EU countries go on strike at the German motorway service area “Gräfenhausen” – one of the largest labour disputes in the European logistics industry. Recruited by a Polish entrepreneur with the promise of fair work, the men have been on the road for months without pay, often without money for food or the journey home. We follow the Georgian drivers through their courageous protest and beyond – to their homes, into their isolation and their fight for justice. Backed by the Dutch trade union RTDD, they challenge those responsible, all the way up to global brands. The film reveals how modern forced labour is pushed into the shadows of supply chains – legalised by complex subcontracting structures. Between hope and powerlessness, the film documents a structural failure – but also the moment when people begin to fight back.
